The 4th annual Winter Breakout hosted by Inside Prep Sports was full of great competition, teams, and plenty of players to know and in the future. 

The early games were tightly contested and went down to the wire as Wayne Memorial (1-1) defeated Howell (0-1), 54-47, followed by Grand Rapids Union (2-0) edging Detroit Loyola (0-2), 53-52.  Howell led after the first quarter 20-15, the half 30-29, and third quarter 43-40.  Union’s lead after the first was 14-8 and at the half 28-26.  Loyola led after the third, 39-37.  (Read More)

Guard play and defense were terms used to describe Wyoming Godwin Heights state championship run.  Godwin’s players were all able to handle the ball and play at a speed that was hard to duplicate for any of their opponents last season.  They also shot the ball at a very high percentage (66.7%) from the perimeter in last season’s championship game vs. Detroit Henry Ford.  This season’s team will look for the same recipe of success with many of the same ingredients.  (Read More)
